How It Protects Your Investment

Camp is one of the biggest nonrefundable checks a family writes.

Most camps set their refund deadline months before the first day, and after that the money is gone whether your child attends or not. Camp Fun Insured is a travel protection plan built specifically for that gap. If a covered event stops the summer before it starts, or cuts it short, you get reimbursed instead of suffering the financial loss.

1

Before camp

A covered illness, injury, or emergency prevents your camper from going. Trip Cancellation reimburses your unused, nonrefundable prepaid camp costs.

2

During camp

A covered event sends your camper home early or delays their arrival. Trip Interruption covers the unused portion plus the added cost of getting them home or getting them there.

3

If something serious happens

Emergency medical evacuation, repatriation, accident and sickness medical expense, and a 24/7 worldwide assistance line are all included.

What this looks like in practice

Two weeks before a four-week sleepaway session, a camper breaks her wrist and her physician certifies she can't attend. The family had already paid $4,800 in nonrefundable tuition. Under Trip Cancellation, the unused nonrefundable amount is reimbursed up to the limit shown on their confirmation of coverage. Illustration only. Actual coverage depends on the policy issued and the facts of the claim.

The Plan

One plan. Everything included.

There are no tiers to compare and no upgrade to weigh. Every camper gets the same protection: the nonrefundable money you have already put into camp, plus medical coverage while your camper is away.

What's Covered

Covered reasons.

These are plain-language summaries of some of the events that can trigger a Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption claim. They are not the full list and they are not the policy language.

Health & family

  • Sickness or injury of your camper, a family member, or a service animal, examined and treated by a physician, that is disabling enough to require cancelling or coming home
  • Death of the camper, a family member, or a service animal
  • Your camper is medically unable to receive a required immunization
  • Notification that an organ match is available for a transplant

Home & weather

  • Your home or the camp's location is made uninhabitable by a natural disaster or burglary
  • A hurricane warning is issued for your departure city or the camp's location
  • Severe weather cancels or delays a common carrier for at least 12 consecutive hours

Getting there & back

  • Mechanical breakdown of the airline your camper is booked on causing a cancellation or delay of at least 12 consecutive hours
  • An airport or air traffic control system shut down by government mandate, fire, or power outage
  • A missed connection after your arrival is delayed at least 3 consecutive hours

Safety & security

  • A terrorist incident occurs in a city on the itinerary within 30 days of departure
  • A security breach, civil disorder, or riot lasting at least 12 consecutive hours
  • A level 4 or higher travel alert is issued for a destination on the itinerary
  • Your camper is the victim of a felonious assault within 10 days of departure
  • Documented theft of a passport or visa required for the trip

School & parents' work

  • Your camper's school extends the school year into the camp session, with notice given after coverage started (extensions for extracurricular or athletic events are not covered)
  • An academic exam is scheduled after coverage started and falls during the session
  • A parent or legal guardian who is financially responsible for the trip is involuntarily transferred 250 or more miles requiring relocation, or is involuntarily terminated or laid off

While camp is in session

  • A covered injury or sickness means your camper cannot continue and must come home early
  • A covered injury or sickness that doesn't require hospitalization but requires extending the stay, covering added lodging, meals, and local transportation until they are fit to travel
  • Emergency medical evacuation to the nearest suitable facility, arranged in advance by the assistance provider
Important: The descriptions above are simplified summaries written to be easy to read. They are not a statement of coverage and they do not list every covered reason, condition, limitation, or exclusion. Covered reasons, benefit amounts, and definitions vary by state, and some are not available in every state. Coverage is governed solely by the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the policy actually issued to you. Please read the policy and your confirmation of coverage carefully before you buy. Notably, this plan does not cover cancellation by the camp itself, financial insolvency or default of the camp or any entity that sold this plan, or a change of mind about attending.

Good to Know

Important Information

The seven things worth understanding before you buy, in plain English.

Health conditions your camper already has

The plan looks back at your camper's health for the 60 days before coverage starts, and a condition already being treated in that window is normally excluded. Buy at or before your final camp payment and that look-back goes away, as long as your camper is well enough to travel on the day you buy. This is the single best reason not to wait.

Who it covers

Campers ages 18 and under.

How much camp you can insure

Up to $25,000 of prepaid camp cost per camper, for sessions up to 30 days long.

When coverage starts

Cancellation coverage begins at 12:01 a.m. the day after we receive your payment. It is not retroactive, so anything already in motion when you buy is not covered.

You get 14 days to change your mind

Cancel within 14 days of buying and your premium is refunded. After that the premium is nonrefundable.

If you need to file a claim

Tell the camp as soon as you know, and within 72 hours of whatever happened. Start your claim within 20 days, and send in your documents within 90 days.

Where it is available

All 50 states. The exact benefits and covered reasons vary from state to state.
